Arf! Arf!

The Publicist went down to La Jolla weekend before last.  This is some of what she saw:

Seals at La Jolla Cove

Photo by SMS who has a better lens than the Publicist...

SMS again
Surf Zoomies

Look at that face!! SMS again :-)

This little cove is called "Children's Beach."  For the past 15 - 20 years it's been taken over by the seals.  It's usually wall-to-wall seal, but this time
the moms were HAVING BABIES!!  So all the big seals are hanging out at another cove and all those little shadows in the water which are very hard to see are babies!

You can see moms and babies snoozing on the rock.
(We think the Publicist needs another lens for her camera.  Just sayin'.)

The other cool thing she saw were pelicans.  When she was in college in San Diego in the 70's the pelicans were almost extinct because of DDT.  Well, not any more!!  They are SO beautiful!

And big!

This is what we did the whole time she was gone:

Oh, and our dad, who didn't leave us, gave us beef jerky...

Fellow Blogger Needs Our Help

Hi All.  Sorry we've been absent of late.  The publicist went out of town last weekend and then worked like a madwoman at her stoopid job all week.  Sheesh.  At least we got to go for a nice hike today...

So here's the deal:

Barbara, of If I Didn't Have a Sense of Humor is in danger of losing her SENSE OF HUMOR!!

Barbara, like many of us, has a lot on her plate with familial and financial responsibilities. She is generally upbeat and positive, keeping her readers laughing several times a week.

Now her sweet Minnie (a rottie mix - HELLO!!) needs to get ACL surgery on BOTH of her knees at 2 grand apiece...(Why didn't more of us go to VET school??)

We cannot afford to loose one drop of humor in our community.  If you can, please contribute to Minnie's surgery via the chip-in below.  If you are unable to do so at this time, please drop by Barbara's blog and offer her a little humor.  We know how much your support can help during a difficult time.

Thanks for helping a friend who has helped many of us, and who has worked hard to keep our community the kind and positive place that it is.
~

We're going to TRY and get the publicist to post some photos from her trip and more importantly some photos of US in a couple of days.

Love,

-Bart and Ruby

KB & K You Can Lean on Us

We may not always be the first to post
but we send love and strength your way every day
to fight the good fight.

We send hope and serenity and the joy of living in the moment, of finding beauty in small things, and friendship in strangers.

We send laughter,

And because it's the day for hearts,
one of those, too.

~

You know that the journey that you're on is very close to us.  Sometimes painfully close.  But your courage and vulnerability have given us strength.  We have found our laughter again.

Please know that we are here for you and with you every step of the way.

TAG!! We're IT

So the other day we got TAGGED by our furiend Pip!  He asked us to answer 10 questions about ourselves.  We're always more than happy to talk about ourselves, butt our Publicist has been slacking seriously.  Anyway, here we go:

1.  Describe yourself in 7 words:

Ruby:  soft, sweet, velcro-dog, petite, food-loving, cuddley...
Bart:  interesting, instigator, friendly, sweet, very smart, playful, time conscious...

2.  What keeps you up at night?

     Bart and Ruby:  NOTHING!!

 3.  Who would you like to be?

Ruby:  I think Zola is Gorgeous, and Honey has wonderful adventures and is so smart, and Fiona and Abby are so athletic and graceful and Bunny can run so fast... butt I'm really happy just being me in my most-perfect-home-that-ever-was...

Bart:  Wow.  For pure handsome dudeness, I'd have to say Timber at Greyhound Gardens!  Have you seen this guy??  Go check him out.  I'll wait.... For just plain having fun, I'd have to say Frankie over at Greyhounds Can Sit.  Frankie's a pigdog and just always looks like he's having a great time...  Butt, you know as far as love, treats, foodables, hikes, foto-ops, I don't want to be anyone else either.  Afterall, I AM the most interesting dog in the world...

4.  What are you wearing right now?

Ruby:  I'm wearing my collar with a flower on it...

Bart:  Mine's the same, without the flower.  SHEESH!!!

5.  What scares you?

Ruby:  Lettin' my mom outta my sight...
     Bart:  osteosarcoma...

6.   What's the best and worst things about blogging?

Bart and Ruby:  we feel the same about this.  We're amazed at how many dogs and kittehs from all over the place we can truly call friends. We NEVER imagined feeling so much a part of such a community.  We HATE that our publicist is such a slacker and actually has to WORK sometimes. We'd like to post more often.

7.   What's the last website you visited?

Bart and Ruby:  We just came back from Tanks!  He just cracks us up.  That drama in the Bad Sport category of Mango Minster 2012 is out of control!!

8.  What's one thing that you'd change about yourself?

Ruby:  I'd like to be taller; kinda like Bunny...
Bart:  Well I'd like to be just a little more cracker, you know?  Sort of like R or Corbin.  I'm a worrier and can't really just cut-loose like they can.  I'd love to act all crazy and have a snooter full of snow...

9.  Slankets?  Yes or no...

     NO!!

10.  Tell us something about the person who tagged you.

Bart and Ruby:  Mr. Pip was one of our first furiends in Blogville.  He is funny and adventurous, kind and generous and he loves his family very, very much.  He LOVES cheeseburgers, but he's been trying to stay away from them cuz they aren't heart-healthy.  He'd do anything for a friend.

OK, so we're gonna tag 8 more bloggers but if you're not on the list, please join in!

Anyone else game??

Have a great weekend and don't forget to vote for Ruby in the Too Darn Cute category of Mango Minster beginning Sunday!!

Love,
-Bart and Ruby

Not Really Wordless Wednesday...

First of all, our furiend Corbin is very, very sick and could really use some Power of the PAW.  Just sayin'...

~

Below is foto evidence as to why
we never get stuffies.
For some reason the humans at our house never thought it was a good idea.

This is is a foto of me and Gizmo when we were
about 8 or 9 months old.

Gizmo's on the left (looking quite smug, I think).
I'm on the right looking, well, interesting...

Weren't we adorable puppies??

 ~

The Publicist didn't have the presence of mind to photograph the bedroom the night we tore up a down comforter and TWO dog beds while our dad slept.
She kind of freaked-out.
Now that I'm a mature man-dog of 7 and Ruby is a mature 6, we've been very nice to our lobster.
Butt they STILL won't buy us any more stuffies.
Sheesh.
BTW, see that gold cushion on the chair in the first photo?  That became Gizmo's personal stuffy.  He would carry it around the house in his mouth when he was happy.  Which was pretty often.  He de-stuffed it gradually over the years and finally finished just before he went to the Bridge.

Oh, and see that stained glass in the front door?  Yeah, we broke that by enthusiastically advising the humans that we had visitors.

The humans are enjoying our middle years...

~

Love,
Bart
