sunday selfie

This would be my selfie.

And these are three of my hiking buddies.  Roxy, who's 10 is closest to the camera, Riley, who is part dingo (and blonde) next, then me and then Aria.  My nemesis.  All she wants to do is play, play, play...  I've matured.  I enjoy walking, sniffing, being by the humans.  Not HER!!

I hide from her, walk by my mom, socialize with the other, more mature girls, and then, eventually I just have to TAKE HER DOWN!!  Sorry, no photos.

The afternoon was beautiful, 70F with a light breeze.  Life is good for the Otto!

Rottie Kisses!

Hello handsome Otto! I do not like the Dogs who just want to play either. I am a middle-aged, dignified lady, thank-you-very-much! So I understand! But it still looks like a fun walk! (Even if your Beach Day got postponed!)

Hey, so are you on Facebook or Instagram or something? We'd love to keep up with you (and if you are on Facebook, and we are friends, can you remind me who your FB persona is?). Daisy is an almost 9 week old Goldendoodle puppy we got last week; I think Abby gave her the official sniff of approval, decided we'd be in good hands with Daisy, and then gave herself permission to leave us. Abby will never be forgotten or replaced, and she'll always be with us, but Daisy is definitely keeping us from sitting around feeling too sad. And she's CUTE!!! The reason I asked about FB or Instagram is that there will be more photos of Daisy there, as we are real slackers on updating the bloggie! Thank you for the good thoughts about Abby!

I hope this finds you and yours doing well. May we display your header on our new site directory? As it is now, the site title (linked back to its home page) is listed, and we think displaying the header will attract more attention. In any event, we hope you will come by and see what is going on at SiteHoundSniffs.com.

Hi hi hi! Ojo here! BEACH! And new sister??? Wow! Is your new sister as good at the Beach? Post pictures soon!

Ojo said...

Hi hi hi! Ojo here! Welcome to your new sister, Osa! When I first came home I would not settled, but the people helped and now I am amazing at it! Hopefully Osa will get good at it soon too!

Jacobi said...

Dear Otto,

When Ojo first came home she paced for days. This drove our people, and ME, crazy! Our people helped her to settle by doing the following things:

1. Lots of exercise. It sounds like you're doing this all ready!

2. For about three weeks every single kibble got tossed to Ojo when she on a mat or in a bed or in her crate. She did not have a food bowl. All her kibbles came one after another when she was being Good on a mat. Kibble after kibble after kibble. Pretty soon Ojo was very happy to find a mat or bed to lie down on, and after some time of kibbles she would relax and then fall asleep.

And over time the kibbles got tossed slower and slower, and when there started to be kibbles left at the end of the day Ojo got a food bowl to hold them.

3. Most other calories that Ojo was allowed to have were stuffed into Kongs (like a kong full of wet dog food and that was put into the freezer! and yes, I always got one too!), and she got these on her mat. She also got things like bully sticks and rawhide chews to help her be calm and focused on something stationary.

Our people went very crazy for the first little while, but they were patient and very persistent and Ojo is now awesome on her mat. It was a game! They would have kibbles in a bowl on edge of the dinner table, and if Ojo was on her mat, they would play "who has the best toss to get the kibble between Ojo's paws"! Of course they gave me some too, so it was fair. It's important to be fair.

And now when the people sit down at the dinner table, Ojo and I run to our mats! We know where we're supposed to be!

They did this in front of the TV, with Ojo on her mat instead of trying to jump on the couch. They did this at the counter, with Ojo on her mat instead of trying to eat off the cutting board. It took some weeks, but really, we're very Good Dogs now!

Good luck, and many licks,
Cobi
