Ruby's Gotcha Day Comment-a-thon

Woo Hoo!!  I've been living at my forever home for 2 years today!!  I never knew life could be so good.  Imagine me, the little back yard dog, getting to sleep on the bed, eating cookies, having foodables delivered to my doorstep by Mr. Chewy and going to the vet for every little thing.

me - helping change the sheets

When I was first Gotcha'd I wouldn't go into the back yard, I was afraid of all the dogs we met on our hikes, I didn't know the first thing about leash walking, I refused to pee outside of our yard, much less poop.

If I can't see you, you can't see me

I was SO shy.  I didn't think anyone liked me.  And I acted either like I didn't care about anyone or I would bark and act all tough.

gentle, confident Bart

I took turns walking with my brothers.  Gizmo taught me to be confident and friendly and that everyone will like you if you just act like you like them.  Bart taught me to be gentle and kind and that I could still be shy, but I didn't need to be afraid.  They were both right.

You know at the end of the movie Pretty Woman when Richard Gere climbs up the ladder to "rescue" Julia Roberts and he asks her what happens to the princess after she gets rescued by the prince and she says, "she rescues him right back"?

Mr. Serious

Well, I've taught Bart to PLAY!  Until fairly recently he was a very serious fellow.  Now, we chase each other through the house squeaking toys and jumping on the bed.  On hikes we run and chase in the soft sand and Bart has begun to act playful with our other dog friends -- bouncing, wiggling, pouncing...which he NEVER did before.  He was always VERY serious.  I gave that to him!

My family has given me a home and I've given them devotion, play, silliness, fun and SO much gratitude.

She's losing it...

We're entering into The Publicist's busy time of the year.  Not only is she NOT providing us with adequate publicity, she's just plain nuts!!

Case in point:

Cat Agility

She found this stupid app for her iPhone called Cat Effects (free) and she's been putting CATS into everything!!!   We fear we may not be around for a while due to her mental health issues.  Dont forget about us!!

Quick Pupdate on ME, Ruby

Just wanted to let you all know that I saw Dr. Sarah again yesterday, and I'm looking good!  I don't have anything wrong with my blood or my liver or my pee or my poop - thought you'd want to know.  Most likely I ate something like a weed or a spider that burned my throat.  No more off leash walkies for me for a while...
Here's how cute I look in case you've forgotten:

I think I'm still a little peaked...

What Bart??

I've about had it, Ruby.  ENOUGH about you!!
Everyone knows that I am the most interesting dog in the world!  And I know better than to eat poison plants!!
~

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and well wishes for my dumb sister.  Hopefully we can return to some INTERESTING POSTS, soon!!

Great News!!

It's NOT cancer!!

NOT a mast cell tumor...

We don't know WHAT it is - maybe a poison plant, maybe some auto-immune thingy.  As Fiona said, maybe I got a hold of some 'bad weed' BOL!!!

More convo with Dr. Sarah tomorrow.

Thank you all so much for your good thoughts.  I will update you as soon as I have more info.

I was actually playful tonight when the Publicist got home tonight.  I'm still taking my Omeprazole and my carafate.

Off to get some more rest.

Thanks again for being my friends...

Love,

-Ruby

The Ruby Report

So I spent ALL DAY at the VET's.  Sheesh.  It was exhausting.  And I didn't have any breakfast or even water since last night.

So see my cute pink bracelet?  I'm keepin' it on.  I love it...

So here's he deal... aside from the big sore in my mouth, I also have a big ulceration my throat "behind my soft palette."  Dr. Sarah removed my sore to get it biopsied, butt that will take 48 to 72 hours.

In the meantime I'm being treated for acid reflux/irritable bowel syndrome but I might have some sort of auto-immune problem or I might have eaten something poisonous like a plant or a spider or I might have something that starts with a "C"...

We won't know until the biopsy comes back.  We're staying calm.  My Publicist is going with the poisonous plant scenario, as I ate some weeds on my walk on Sunday and my symptoms started after that.  Dr Sarah said that maybe I ate a spider.  I don't remember THAT!

I also got a sebaceous cyst removed from the top of my head.  The Publicist is calling it a "little nip/tuck."

I'm really tired.  I did eat some soft food and took my prilosec and some other medicine that we have to dissolve in water and squirt into my throat to coat my sore throat.

Thank you all so much for keeping me in your thoughts. Please keep thinking pawsitive thoughts for me.  It means so much to me and Bart and The Publicist.  We'll let you know as soon as we find out the results of the biopsy.

Love,

-Ruby

Power of the Paw for Ruby - Please...

Bart here.  My sister Ruby is at the VET even as I write, waiting to get "scoped"...  She's been eating grass like a goat and then barfing up hay-bales, she's not eating with her usual enthusiasm - she's even letting me finish her foodables!!  This is SO not like her...

Dr. Sarah took X-rays of her tummy on Friday and didn't see any blockage - just grass and GAS...So Ruby had a shot to calm her tummy and she took medicines, too, butt she still feels yucky.

She also has this gross sore in her mouth that Dr. Sarah thought was from her maybe biting the inside of her cheek, butt that's not looking better either...

So, she's getting the scope to make sure nothing is stuck in her throat, and the sore thingy is getting biopsied.  We hope Dr. Sarah can sort this all out.  So cross your paws for Ruby today, OK??

-Bart
