A Thank You and A Wonderful Offer

Hi Everybody.  I just wanted to thank all of you for saying such nice things about me in response to my essay on Why I Wanted to Go on an Adventure with Mango.  All your kindnesses made me feel very warm (that, and it's 95 outside) and loved.

So Thank You!!

I also wanted to tell you about a special sale that's going on over at Art By Elizabeth.  Elizabeth is a wonderful artist who lives in Oregon and who recently gave away a portrait of Havi over at Two Grad Students and a Pittie.  Her work is amazing and she has a great talent for capturing the "character" of her subject.  Check out her portrait of Havi which is posted on her site. Her pictures of horses and cowboys are also quite beautiful.

Anyhoo, Elizabeth is having a sale during the month of July on her custom artwork.  Go to her blog and check out her beautiful work.

Mom's thinking of having a painting of us done:

I bet Elizabeth could even get rid of our laser eyes!!

Before I go, Look at my doofus brother, Bart:

He's in Mom's shower. He thinks he's
"the most interesting dog in the world...

I think he's the biggest DORK in the world!!

Love, Ruby

Why I'd Love an Adventure with Mango

Mango, honestly, I've liked you from the moment I first saw your relentlessly handsome picture on your blog.  You're silly, and you're goofy and you always brighten my day.

You know that I live with my two brothers.  They're great, but they're my brothers, you know?  They protect me, they've shown me how to guard, where to sleep on the bed, the proper method for disposing of beef jerky...

Gizmo
Bart

But we don't really have any adventures to speak of.  Yeah, we go to the creek, we hike, we do some zoomies.  But ya know, I lived in a backyard for four years before I came here.

I crave adventure.  I body surf.  I go in the deepest part of the creek just to experience the sensation of the water rushing me forward.  It's great.  I want to live, really live, Mango!

I really think we could have a great time.  I toot constantly, I've seen plenty of drool and lipstick around here, trust me.
  I'm not a priss.

Mango, really.  How can you resist taking me and my HeartButt on a memorable adventure.  I know we'd have fun.

Respectfully submitted,

Then we kind of grew up.

And Ruby came to be our sister...

Jack's Cookbook

Our friend Jack, over at Daily Dose of Jack, has been compiling a cookbook of  doggie and kitteh treat recipies by and for doggies and kittehs!!  Here's Jack:

So here's the deal:  Jack's dad, the Tall Guy (TG) and Jack are going to donate ALL the proceeds from the sale of the cookbook to an organization that helps animals in need.  The totally pawsome parts are 1) we, Jack's readers, get to NOM-inate the organization and 2) we get to VOTE to decide where the money will go!!

So hurry over to Jack's blog.  TG is taking NOM-inations through June 14 (tomorrow) and then we will get to vote.  We are really looking forward to this cookbook, because Mom's favorite doggie recipie is:  Put 1 and one half scoops of kibble in dog bowl.  Serve.  YAWN!!!

Thanks!!
Gizmo, Bart and Ruby

Rebuttal

WOWZERS!!  There's some strong, powerful, opinionated females out there!!  Hey, I LIKE girls.  Everyone knows that they are usually the alpha.  But we guys don't ALL drool.  Maybe a little well-placed slobber, butt sheesh, give a guy a break.  I was just being polite in a canine sort of way.  I'm a very well mannered guy!

Have a drool-free weekend, everybody!!

Love, Gizmo

A Real Pain in the Neck... by Bart

I don't know if you know, but back in January when Mom had Jury Duty and was all stressed out all the time I got a pain in my neck!!  What's fair about that?  I went to the vet, who said I had a "pinched nerve" in my neck.  I was really pitiful.  I kept crying out in pain and if Gizmo or Ruby accidentally bumped into me I made a sound like my head was falling off.  Dr. Miller gave me steroids and muscle relaxers and told me not to exercise for two weeks (UGH!!)  OK.  So we did all that, it resolved, and at the end of March I was crying out again.  More steroids, more muscle relaxers.  Mom decided to look into other forms of treatment.  Dr. Miller referred us to The Holistic Veterinary Center.  That's where I met Dr. Lane and Mia *sigh*.

I've been having acupuncture treatments and taking herbs just for my neck and shoulders; and they've even taught Mom how to give me a massage and stretch my shoulder muscles!

Here I am with some acupuncture needles in me.  The coolest part is that while they are inserting the needles, they distract me with TREATS!!  And you know who gives 'em to me?  Mia!  *sigh* She's so awesome.  The needles don't hurt me one bit.  At first I sort of just stand there, then I sit and pretty soon I'm SOOOO relaxed and I just lay down and do some meditations.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.....

Also, I'm supposed to walk, just little short ones.  So I've been following this routine for about 8 weeks now, and boy! am I feeling better!  I'm more playful, I'm being silly talking to my mom and playing with toys and all kinds of stuffs that I hadn't been doing for a long time.

Today Mom took Me and Ruby to the creek. (Gizmo has a sore elbow.  Sheesh!!)  We had soo much fun!  Here I am.  Aren't I just so handsome?!? Oh, and I'm not supposed to wear a collar so I got a new harness just like Jack and Mango and Dexter have...

Here I am being a dutiful Big Brother watching Ruby body surf... Be careful, Ruby...
