Well. It didn't work out...

He was the most beautiful rottweiler that I have ever seen.  He was gentle, obedient, good in the car, nice on the leash.  He had the most beautiful amber eyes.   Unfortunately he outweighed Bart by at least 10 pounds - and he was underweight from being a stray.  He was dominate with Bart, who is a big wusie-boy (Gizmo was the dominate one of the two) and Bart kept hiding under the table and growling.  Chubs, who I've come to think of as 'Thor' was excited-dominate, but could have become aggressive easily.  It was a powder keg. Too much stress for our grieving pack.

I left early for work Saturday morning and had the opportunity to spend several hours of one-on-one time with this magnificent boy.  We walked around the neighborhood where my office is.  He greeted people nicely.  People were drawn to him.  I fell in love; I admit it.

The rescue guy came to get him, and tomorrow Chubs (Thor) is being transported to Big Sky Rottweiler Rescue in Wyoming.  It seems to be a wonderful organization which deals exclusively with rotties.  They seem to know their stuff.

Chubs seemed to have a bit of a limp in his left rear leg.  The first dog I looked at on their site was a beautiful girl who was undergoing surgery for her hip displaysia.  How wonderful if this magnificent boy could get help for his leg out of this.  All of my disappointment at this not working out would be ameliorated knowing he got the treatment he might need.

Thank you, Mayzie, Ranger  and Grandpa J for encouraging us to open our home to someone special.  While it didn't work out this time, I met a wonderful dog, learned more about rescue and found an amazing organization that specializes in rotties all because of you!  Thank you, you little brindle beauty!!

I'm sorry it didn't work out, but I give you a lot of credit for giving it a try, and for realizing that it wasn't an ideal situation for your dogs. I would hate for Bart to be miserable! The right dog is waiting out there for you. You just haven't found each other yet!

WEa re so sorry it didn't work out for you and him. But you did the right thing.

It wouldn't be fair to do that to Bart.

But you tried and that is the important thing and you got attention drawn to the big beautiful boy.

So sorry for we are sure this was very very hard for you.

Hi Everyone. I agree. You did the right thing for your family and pack. Chubs looked wonderful and will easily find a forever home. It is no good stressing out poor Bart when he is still dealing with his grief. A young pup might be the answer, someone who will look up to Bart and Ruby and be happy to be 'bottom of the pack'.

There is a new dog out there for you. He/she will probably turn up when you least expect it. Give your two a big hug from us. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)

What a beautiful boy and even if you couldn't keep him, you've helped him out just the same. I suspect it took my courage to send him back than it would have done to keep him. Deccy x

Sorry it didn't work out. It's good you'll do what's best for the whole family. I love Big Sky- they are an awesome organization. I'm sure they'll take good care of this big guy. He's a beauty! Makes me Rottie hungry all over again. I hope one day our life will have a place for a new Rottie.

We're sorry it didn't work out but it's the right decision for everyone isn't it? We had the same thing last year, a lovely rescue girly came to live with us but Dex and Lou became so upset and after 4 days of fighting and keeping everyone seperate we had to admit defeat. The Rottie rescue sounds fab so I'm sure there will be a happy ending here :-)

Zoie is too much for an old lady but I am going to make it work for us b/c she is just what I wanted in a dog.
A velcro dog!!! When we walk she keeps looking back at me and if I stop she comes running back to see if I am alright. She isn't going if I not coming!!

We lost our first rottie to diabetes in 1999 and were mourning him when our vet office called and said they knew of a rottie that needed a home. WE of course took her, but she was VERY dominating with me and my husband as well, so we had to give her back. I cried and was heart broken... I felt like a failure, but sometimes for whatever reason, it's just not meant to be. I'm sure Thor will have a great life in Wyoming!!

OH! How kind of you to consider Chubs! He'll find a place to call his own. And Bart and Ruby will find a friend to snuggle up to. Sometime. I'm confident this will happen.

It must be so hard with Gizmo's presence so strong in your hearts and minds. He'll let you know when it's the right time. You guys are all to be commended for the good you do for doggies!

I'm so sorry it didn't work out, but you need a guy who will fit into your household. And we wouldn't want poor Bart being overrun. Chubs is a very handsome boy, and I'm sure someone will love him.

Better that you tried or you would has always have wondered. Efurrybuddy needs to be comforable with one anudder. I would hate if a bossy dog wot skeered me came to live here. We has fostered ones like that afore and mom had to keep them separate from us and that woz no funs but at least only temporary. Let me ask you this - woz Chubs nootered yet? Mom always saw that happening when one dog woz not nootered and the udder woz. Kinda like posturing with a poofed out chest and saying "Neener, neener I is not nooter and you is, suckah!" You know, that kinda attitude. Boys! Anyway, mom always says nootered boy dogs should only meet nootered boy dogs or you will most likely has ishoos. That just be her two kibbles werth.

Chubs sounds like a biog sweetie, with people. But, I'm glad that you listened to Bart despite what a sweetie Chubs is.

We once had to turn down a wonderful dobie-lab mix for the same reason. She was too much for our existing pack and would have scared the heck out of them. So, I understand. That was a long time ago, and I still remember her.

The right pack member will appear for you - I'm sure of it!

Oh - I'm so sorry things didn't work out with Chubs(I agree, Thor is a much better name!)- he certainly is a gorgeous boy but it's important that Bart & Ruby feel comfortable with a new member of the family. I think you're right to put the needs of your current pets first. I'm sure handsome Chubs will soon find a suitable, loving home!
