It's been an emotional week...

First I want to thank the readers of our blog for your many kind words of condolence when we lost Gizmo last month and your many insightful and empathic stories as we've been working through this process of grieving his loss to our family.  Gizmo had a huge personality and was a big part of life at chez RottRover and the pain is overwhelming at times.  All of you with a pack of dogs know that the pack dynamics shift after such a loss.  Bart and Ruby have become closer friends and are spending more time in close proximity to one another.  Bart was very sad and lost initially, but he seems to have moved on and bonded more closely with his sister.  He is somewhat more clingy with me - he needs to be close to me pretty much whenever I'm home, but he is such a sweet boy it's easy to accommodate to this.  We've been walking more frequently and socializing often with our extended pack at the creek.

Enter Myzie's Rescue Me Week...

Each day many of you have posted about a wonderful animal in need of a forever home - some from high kill shelters, some from rescues.  Many mornings I've had "leaky" eyes reading about a dog or a kitty or a bunny or a GOAT in need of rescue.  I looked on Petfinder for rottweilers:

Here is Kobe, the young guy I met a couple of weeks ago when I went to deliver treats to the shelter.

HELP!  I'm being pixelated!!

Here's Boomer who's in foster care not far from Chez RottRover.

I started wondering about the woman who had rescued Ruby who said she was getting out of rescue soon because she was getting burnt-out. Maybe I could post one of their dogs and maybe their rescue could receive a donation... Then on Tuesday she sent me this e-mail:

Hi Lisa,

Hope your all well!  Thought I would send you this, in case you know anyone that can take him? One day I will hike with you, but I never seem to have a free day.......

Fw: Big teddy bear of a Rottie - at Camarillo, CA

This big guy has quickly made himself one of the shelter's favorites. Chubs is a friendly 4-5 yr. old male Rottie who appears to get along with everybody, including other dogs.

He hops a little when he runs - as if from an old rear leg injury, but does not appear to be in any discomfort, and is otherwise healthy. He does not show signs of this injury while walking. But at over 100 lbs, Chubs is not looking to be anybody's jogging partner anyway, and is hoping for a soft spot in your living room or den.

Please help this big handsome guy get adopted or rescued before he runs out of time at this crowded shelter. If you can't take him home with you, please consider pledging money to help a rescue save Chubs.

If you have specific questions, please call the shelter: 805-388-4341, then 0 and ask about A537049 (since Chubs might not ring a bell).

Thanks,
Rob & Chubs
Teddy-bear???  Chubs???  OMD!! His picture has been taken down because the rescue has pulled him, but suffice to say he had a great big smile and LIPSTICK!! (He got tutored yesterday...)

Bart and Ruby and I are on our way up to Camarillo in a few minutes to go and meet Chubs.
Mayzie, this may have been Rescue ME Week!!  We'll see.  Regardless, I'll post pictures of the Chubmeister and send you the name of this Rob guy's rescue.

Rottie Kisses!

I can't count the number of times I've been rescued by a dog i was supposed to be rescueing. I hope Bart and Ruby love Chubs and you can bring the big guy home!

It's probably a good thing that my landlord won't let me get another dog. I can see two rotties 2 berners, an airdale, a briard and a shepherd mix all lounging in my living room and Stumpy holding court!

Happy, Waggin' Tails, FUREVER!

What a bittersweet post. I am glad Rudy and Bert are finding comfort in each other, and staying more close to you. When my last dog passed my grief lasted for ages, so I understand your feelings about sweet Gizmo. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you move through your grief.

It is very exciting to read about Chubs! Paws and fingers crossed that it all works out. :->

We have our paws crossed that this all works out. Mama always says you get the dogs God needs you to have and you get them when He needs to home them. You have an open heart and a willing spirit, and that's enough as long as Ruby, Bart & Chubbs get along. And then Chubbs will tell you whether he wants a new name :)

Well. It's been, like, furever, since we've managed to get OurMoma to help us blog. And once we finally get her to sneak in for a few minutes ... this is one of the first posts we come to. Nothing like stirring up the emotions around here.

Anyhow ... we want to thank you for helping us spread the word about the Worldwide Moment. AND we want you to know we've added you to our bloglist ... so we HOPE we can get OurMoma to be a little more ... shall we say ... involved?

Take care, special ones,
