Gizmo told us last night that it was time to go to the bridge. Our stoic dog told us that the pain was too much. Osteosarcoma sucks.
Gizmo ~ December 4, 2004 - October 17, 2011
"Give sorrow words. The grief that does not speak, whispers to the o'er-fraught heart and bids it break."
-William Shakespere
My heart lurched when I saw your title. Gizmo will be missed so very much - most of all by you but by all of us too. I could tell from so far away how deeply you loved him and that you gave him a wonderful life. We hope that Gizmo is running free, with no pain, and is watching over you from up high.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are filled with tears. That evil cancer stole Gizmo far too soon. But, Gizmo will live on forever in your heart - I know that for certain.
Many hugs from me, K and R.
All my heartfelt condolences to Gizmo's pack. Such a beautiful rottie! Not a day will go by that you don't think of your handsome boy and all the fun you had together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your pack with us. I do love rotties but never had one of my own, so I love to hear stories about your pack.
Blessings, Gizmo and to the whole family,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
I am so sorry for your loss! You will be in my thoughts

So sorry to hear! Hope you can feel us thinking about you from here!
ReplyDeleteWords fail me...Saying that I'm sorry just doesn't seem like enough because I know the ache your heart is feeling at the loss of your precious Gizmo. Even though he wasn't my dog, I feel almost as if he was because you shared him with all of us. There's a well known saying... 'Death is never sad, if the gift of life has been well used'. I know Gizmo's life was 'well used' but I feel very very sad for you and your family and for all of us at this loss. I hope you find comfort in your memories and in knowing that you'll see Gizmo again one day, and what a wonderful day that will be!!
ReplyDeleteGod speed Gizmo. Our candle will be lit to help you find your way to the Rainbow Bridge...
Oh Gizmo! I don't have words. I know that it was your time, but all too soon for your friends and family. Run free, my friend, run free.

It will be 1 month on the 20th that Cleo gained her angel wings and I know she was waiting for Gizmo to come play with her "Pain Free". I know there are no words and that I send you lots of hugs and prayers for you and your family. This "C" monster so sucks for everyone. Run Free Gizmo, you will always remain in our hearts. HoundDogMom (Sherri) and The HoundDogs
ReplyDeleteWhen I get to the bridge, the first thing I'm going to do is find Gizmo. I think hanging out with him would be the coolest thing ever (plus I'm sure he'd protect me when I bark the wrong thing to the big dogs and get myself in trouble... )

OHHHH!! This is heartbreaking... I just heard this morning from Mango, and I instantly felt the sadness welling up. He was truly a great dog.
ReplyDeleteComfort yourselves with knowing that you loved him deeply and shared him with us, who loved him deeply too. And, you listened when it was time and were brave enough to do the most difficult thing of all- say goodbye. Know that he's at the Bridge with a great crew (my Mortimer for one), waiting.
Run pain free Mr. Gizmo. We all love you.

Your header said it beautifully. When we suffer the loss of a pup, a part of our heart goes with them. Eventually a new pup wanders into our life and gives us a piece of theirs. I am so sorry to hear about your gorgeous Gizmo. It is such a difficult path to walk when you are fighting cancer. May your moments be filled with the reminders of the love and good times you all shared together.
ReplyDeleteYour time, dear Warrior and Friend, was too short. Know that you are forever a hero and will never be forgotten. We vow to continue our fight to end the reign of this monster's terror in your name in hopes that someday no family will feel the heartache yours does tonight. Be at peace Gizmo and guide your loved ones to comfort.
