Thistle Thursday

We don't really know what this is. We find one every year at about this time.  But only one. Mom thinks they are really amazing. We think she's weird and should be taking pictures of US on our walks, not the stupid flowers. She's a KB wannabe. Dream on Mom...

Does anyone know what this is called?  She'll sleep better at night if she knows. That and maybe if we leave some room for Dad and her on OUR bed.  Just sayin'....

Rottie kisses,
-Gizmo, Bart and Ruby

  14. It's clear that plant is bothering the mom and not you three!

We called it a thistle and back east it produces burrs later in the year. I believe you can find the root of the plant somewhere close to China.

  17. We haves those in our backyard! We call 'em thistles and mom just HATES them cuz they grow like crazy and choke everything else out. But I'm with your mom. I think it's kinda pretty!

Oh, and Brudder Ranger is practically speechless with the Honorary Rottweiler title you've bestowed on him. He has often said he shoulda been born a Rottweiler so peoples would take him more seriously. He's very touched and says he's "proud to accept such a distinguished award."

  18. Hey Rotties, Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind words. Our mom sometimes gets too busy to blog as much as we'd like -- but we do go visit Wilf every morning with our paws crossed.

Your parents must be very special people to have the three of you sleep on their bed. We're much smaller; but our mom moves around so much that we decided we're better off in our own beds on the floor. Dogdad never moves -- but she moves enough for the two of them.

We read a few of your posts, and are so glad Ruby has found her furever home!!!

  19. WOW you three look like royalties on that bed! Those flowers look thorny. Is that some kind of fungus on it?

  20. That might be an Indian Thistle but I can't seem to find a really good picture on Google.

  21. Lovely photos, especially the last one;)

We have thistles that look like that here in New Zealand, except the plant is more green than silver. We just call them Scotch Thistles!

  22. That looks like a thistle to us. They sure do hurt when you touch them or step on them! OUCH!

    Love ya lots

  23. It looks like a thistle to us. I advice NOT sticking your nose to it!

And tell your mom not to feel bad! All the humans want to be KB. She takes amazing pictures!

  24. Beautiful shots! But we don't know these flowers...
The last picture of you guys, it's something special!! =))

  25. They do look like some kind of thistle but not the same kind as we have around here.

We had to buy a king-sized bed back when we had 3 dogs to find space for me and the Runner! Love the photo of your trio of Rotties!

  26. Your mum and dad should be happy with the space you do leave for them! No idea what the thistle is, sorry.

  27. Your mom did a very nice job capturing those flowers. Her shots are lovely. Looks like a VERY comfy sleeping arrangement!

  29. It's called a Big Thistle in my "Little Greyhound Book of Flowers" (I don't really have a copy - I just made that up).

That looks like a great bed just the right size for the three of you. You hang on in there and it'll teacher her a lesson for taking pictures that aren't of you on your walks. Annoying, or what!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh my dog! That bed looks so comfortable! And, it fits the three of you PERFECTLY! I guess your humans will have to sleep elsewhere... ;)

    Love,

  34. You guys have a nice bed and a nice bedroom - very light and airy. Do your PU's have as nice a bedroom for themselves? Doubt even a king sized bed would fit all 5 of you, so clearly the PU's need to get a second bed. Especially as you need to be careful of Bart's neck just now.

Looks like the plant people have covered the flowering plant. Looks like a thistle to us, too, but what kind ...????

  36. Such amazing photos! We're not sure what they're called but we get lots of those around here too - we usually wee on them, he he he! Thankfully the prickly bit is high up in the air otherwise this story would not have a happy ending!

We are in AWE of you on that bed - are the humans able to squish in at all?!

Hey, we just wanted to say that our FH is totally in love with a Rottweiler who works at our local hospital - she's a therapy dog and is the cleverest and most gentle dog that FH has ever met. And she always seems to enjoy a good lean on FH whenever she meets her too - he he he!

  37. Oh, it's gorgeous - whatever it's called! :-) Hsin-Yi says she would have been taking pictures of it too! Those are great photos - such clear detail!

And that last picture of the bed had us cracking up! :-)

  39. MOL you might want to give mom and dad a blankie and send them to the couch...I believe the bed if full of beautimous Rotties and the motto around here is if a furbaby is sleeping leave it be.
Hugs madi and thanks for the smiles.

  40. They look like my mom's favorite flowers- the Scottish Thistle that grows all over there. Pretty cool- she ooh'd and ahh'd when seeing them :)

  41. Ruby ... you've got it right. Being part of a family is the best. 'Specially the sleeping on the bed part. Life is so good!

Now about those thistly plants ... we agree that they can be sorta pretty, but we're a bit worried about getting them stuck in our paws. That looks like it could be painful. Owwwie. (That's when momas with tender loving hands come in handy ... right?)

    Happy new week!
