We're Stylish!

Miss HoneyBuzz awardified us!  She awarded us the Stylish Blogger Award.  And then, we waited so long to post about it, Hawk, AKA Browndog awardified us, too! We sure are stylin'!

A few weeks back, Miss HoneyBuzz posted that some awful teenage boys had said that she was "ugly."  Ugly?  Miss HoneyBuzz??  We think not.  We also think that those are probably the sort of teenage boys who always say, "Wow. Are those rottweilers? OOO are they mean?  Oh, they look scary."  We hate dumb a$$es.  So we always just walk up to them, all cool and stuff, wag our stubs and give them big, wet gooey kisses!!  Totally freaks 'em out!!

Gizmo

Hey.  Who are you callin' UGLY??

We got your back, gurrlfuriend!

Hawkeye is a totally handsome dude that we're pretty sure no one would ever call ugly.  He's a pretty new furiend to us, but his blog is filled with beautiful photographs of the countryside where he lives.  While he's a hunting dog, he doesn't hunt.  He does lots of funballs stuffs though.  And he's a Good Ol' Boy from the South. If you haven't, go check him out!!

Stuff about us you may not know:
  • Our Mom doesn't know how to photoshop.  Just how to regular shop...
  • Gizmo is very outgoing and friendly. He's like a poster boy for rotties. Everyone who meets him loves him. As Browndog might say, "he's never met a stranger."
  • Bart is more shy; but very gentle and sweet.  He always greets the humans with a toy in his mouth when they come home at the end of the day.  He sleeps on Mom's pillow.
  • Both boys love kids.
  • Ruby was never socialized to dogs.  Bart has been helping her with his gentle spirit.  She used to bark at other dogs on our walks, but she doesn't anymore...
  • When Ruby first came to us she wouldn't go very far into the back yard.  She didn't want to be left!  Today she was the first one to sound the "coyote in the canyon" alert!!
  • Gizmo has the longest "tail".  Mom will try to photograph it when it's wagging. It will crack you up.  It goes 87 miles an hour and it's like 4 inches long!!
That's about it.  This award has zoomed around Blogville for a while.  We would like to offer it to anyone who would like to take it.  We don't think there's an unstylish blog out there!

Thanks so much Miss HoneyBuzz and Mr. Hawkeye!!

Snow Day

We don't often get snow where we live.  But Sunday when we woke up THIS is what we saw from our back door! See the snow on the hill back there?

None of the dogs had ever been in snow before, so being the most adventurous, Gizmo talked me into taking him to check out the white stuff.

Oh yeah Mango and Dexter.  I'm in the SNOW!!

WTF??

Good Ol' Rudy

Mr. Rudy, guide dog in training, was the Judges Choice Winner of the Good Ol' Dog competition in Mango Minster 2011.

Isn't he so handsome in his harness?  You may know that Rudy is away at Puppy Camp right now as part of his guide dog training. In addition to sending him some special food and good  ol' dog  treats, we will be making a donation in his honor to Hearts in Harmony, a wonderful Therapy Dog organization in East Texas, and specifically to a program of theirs called Pawsitive Hearts. Pawsitive Hearts matches shelter dogs with teenagers who are in residential placement often due to abuse or neglect by their parents.  The kids work with the dogs on socialization and basic commands in order to get them ready for placement in forever homes. For many of these young people this is a rare opportunity to both give and receive unconditional love.   As you can imagine, both kids and dogs benefit!  Here is a video about the program:

If you can't see the video, click here.

We're so pleased that a service dog could help provide support to a program that helps dogs help kids help dogs!  Again, congratulations to Rudy and all the winners and entrants in Mango Minster, 2011.  And a Relentlessly Huge thanks to Mango for hosting this wonderful event.

We're wagging our stubby tails at ya!  - Gizmo, Bart and Ruby

We're Back. Finally.

Gizmo here...

So it took less time for the people of Egypt to change governments than for Mom's jerky doody to conclude. She was not happy.  As a self employed person, three (3) weeks of jerky doody sorta cramped her style a little. She's been working some 12 hour days and Saturdays trying to stay on top of things.  We offered to take her for walks, but she said she couldn't.  She got so stressed, she gave herself shingles.  She looks funny with roofing material all over the right side of her body.

This is what Mom was thinking about during jerky doody.

The first week of jerky doody, Mom was getting really bad headaches every day.  They seemed like tension ones. Then Bart started crying out in pain.  Mom took him to the v.e.t. and he had a pinched nerve in his neck!!  (Maybe because he sleeps in weird positions. Just sayin'.) He was given cortisone.  Which, of course, increases appetite.

THEN, when Mom was really, really stressed, the second week, Bart ate three (3) dozen iced sugar cookies.  He barfed, and barfed, and barfed.  Mom couldn't take him to the v.e.t. because she had to be at jerky doody, and she was freaking out like a lunatic, so Dad took him.  Bart was so bloated he looked bovine!!  Then he got fluids at the v.e.t. and he even barfed more there (a lot!!)  But his tummy didn't twist which is what the v.e.t. was worried about. And Mom was happy about that! He had x-rays, and medicine, and I.V.'s and basically costed a lot of green papers.  He's all better now.  Dork.  Mom thinks he's the "sensitive one" who was "internalizing her stress." I just think he's a huge Dork.

RUFF!

We are SO glad to be back in Blogville.  It's been RUFF!!

Wanna Go For a Walk??

Hi Everybody!  Our thoughts are with our furiends in the Mid-West and East. We hope you are keeping warm and safe.  Mom's STILL on Jerky Doody, and we've been thinking about how nice it would be for all of us to take a walk together in the sunshine.  C'mon!!  Let's GO!!
