Paradise Lost

Hi everybody.  It's me, Gizmo! Sorry we haven't posted much lately.  Our publicist is a slacker.  We've given her a stern talking to and she helped us come up with this:

When it gets really hot we like to go to our ponds to go swimming and wading and just generally hang out in the beauty of this little oasis which is about 10 minutes from our home.

These are pictures our publicist took in 2008.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It's a wildlife sanctuary and all kinds of birds stop here on their way to wherever birds go...

~

Well, this is a photo of our pond this year:

Yep!  Some bright bulb apparently dumped their aquarium into the pond and this stuff has taken over!

Thankfully, our little swimmin' hole is still clean and clear.  Here's my dufus brother, the most boring dog in the world: sheesh!  you can almost see it growing!!

Butt, we all had super fun times anyway!  Here are some shots of us just chillin'...

The dufus looks pretty blissed-out, doesn't he?

Here's sweet Ruby doin' a few laps.  She just loves to swim.  Me and the dufus are pretty lazy and prefer to sniff stuff or just wade...

She's a regular Esther Williams...check out those little front paws just cruising!

Despite the aquarium lettuce, we had a totally wonderful and refreshing time.

What are you guys doing with your weekend??

Love,
-Gizmo

  2. Man your watering hole is so clean and pure looking. I love that you can see the rocks under the water.

We are still quite mucky here because the flooding has brought so much earth down the mountains with it.

Ruby is a girl after my own heart cause she loves to swim so much. But I gotta tell you Bart looks pretty good in the water.

Well, I am hopin My Vickie will take me swimmin after seeing your blog. We havn't been for a few days and when she gave me a bath last week, I think she left some soap on me, so a swim should clean that right out.

    Have a nice sunday

  4. Hi Y'all,

Just hangin' out in these here mountains and flyin' around lookin' for more autumn color in August!

Hey we're sufferin from hydryla in the fresh waters here in the east. It's a nightmare that clogs your boat props and prevents steering or stops your engine.

Be careful Ruby's paws don't get wrapped in it.

Looks like y'all are having a grand ol' time!

    Y'all come by now,

  9. Looks like lots and lots of fun for you water lovers. We have been busy pupsitting for the new kid of the pack - he sure can tire us all out, including the Momster.

Hey, I am a good boy, and you know you all love me.

  10. Wish our lake water looked that clear - I might actually go in it! Do they plan on doing anything about the water lettuce?

  15. That's really caused by aquarium lettuce??? That's crazy! Wow!

I think Ruby looks most lovely and graceful swimming!

  16. Wow! All that from an aquarium? That's amazing! Luckily you've still got some spots to be able to wade (and Ruby can do her Esther Williams impersonation!)!

  17. Gizmo, even if you let Bart be the most interesting dog in the world, you could still be the most handsome! I am in envy of your swimming hole.

Today has been a very lazy day, but I hear a trip to the dog park with cousin Ruby is in the works for tomorrow!

  18. Since it's still winter here, I'll be staying in my toasty bed. Although I will go out in the sun if it's a nice day.

  19. The pond looks so nice and refreshing. Exactly what you guys need on a warm day is to take a dip right?
I hope the lettuce does not take over all the water,, or where will you swim?

  23. What a bummer that the lettuce is taking over your beautiful spot! It really is beautiful - so calm and serene.

  24. That water is very clear. Our river is very brown. Some people just don't use their brains, do they.

At least you can enjoy your little corner of paradise.

  26. Hi All, looks like you all had a great time. Wow that pond weed looks bad. Hopefully it can be cleared away (somehow). No worries, and love, Stella

  27. Beautiful pond! A lot cleaner than the one our Gus swims in! Hope you had a great time.

  28. I'm so glad that your little swimming hole is still clear and beautiful. It looks like you are completely blissful in the peaceful pond.

I'm afraid that there's no swimming in our weekend schedule... but we have this dream of buying a piece of land that is a quarter mile away that includes a POND. Our labs would be in heaven if we did that!

  29. If I had a pond like that, I'd be there all day long. It's so wonderfully clear...when you can see a dog's feet when she paddles, that water is clear!

The lettuce certainly likes it. I've been told lettuce keeps tanks clear...I wonder if the clarity of the pond is due in part to the lettuce. It dies in winter here, but looks like it would just proliferate in your climate. xx

  30. What a great oasis you have so close to your house! Too bad some idiot dumped his lettuce-grower in there.

  33. WTG Ruby...girls rule boys drool!!

What a difference in your two pictures of your pond. did someone really dump their acquarium in the pond in a santuary? If so, they should be beat with a wet noodle!! How rude!!

  35. OMD, I say we form a posse and put the bitey on that nitwit wot messed up YOUR pond! Mom told me that years ago she heard that the zoo had only gurl Guinea piggies so they would not get overpopulashunned. Some doodyhed sneaked his Guinea piggies wot he no longer wanted into the zoo and dumped them in with the zoo Guinea piggies. (This be wot they figger happened.) Turns out one woz a boy. Need I woof more?

  36. I despair of humans sometimes. What a crime to make such a mess of a little piece of paradise. At least you guys still have your beautiful swimming hole. Maybe even Beryl would have a swim there, as long as someone is throwing a tennis ball for her!

    Glad you found us again:)

  37. Your little oasis is lovely...just hope the humans don't end up ruining it! Glad to see everyone enjoying the dog days of summer.
